St. John Chrysostom is the heavenly patron of Mar Chrysostom College. He is an important early church father and considered the most prominent doctor of the Greek Church, the greatest preacher ever heard in a Christian pulpit. The zeal and clarity of his preaching, earned him the Greek surname “Chrysostomos” meaning “Golden-Mouthed.”

His Excellency Yoohanon Mar Chrysostom, the Bishop Emiritus of the Diocese of Pathanamthitta is a sacred personality who has inspired thousands through his pastoral zeal, missionary activities, ascetic view of life and untiring efforts for social and human well being. He hails from Kadammanitta in Pathanamthitta District. He was ordained a priest on 5th May 1973, by His Grace Benedict Mar Gregorios Arch Bishop of Trivandrum. He was ordained a bishop by His Beatitude Cyril Baselios Catholicos on 29th June 1998. He was appointed as the first bishop of Pathanamthitta by His Beatitude Cardinal Baselios Cleemis Catholicos on 25th Jan 2010. From the very beginning of his Episcopal ministry in Pathanamthitta he has been very vigilant in making significant contributions to the spiritual and material well being of the society especially in Education, Physical and Mental Health, Financial upliftment, Human Resource Development and so on.

His Excellency Dr. Samuel Mar Irenios, the second Metropolitan Bishop of the Diocese of Pathanamthitta, is a blessed personage who continues to inspire many through his prayer life, charismatic fervour, broad vision and ascetic life. He has served as the Bursar and Principal of Mar Ivanios College, Trivandrum and St. John’s College, Anchal. He was ordained a bishop by His Beatitude Cardinal Baselios Cleemis Catholicos on 13th March 2010. His Excellency was awarded the C. Kesavan Memorial Award on 16th July, 2012, for his contribution in the field of education and religious tolerance. On 10th April, 2018, he was appointed as the Coadjutor bishop of the Diocese of Pathanamthitta. On 8th June, 2019, he was installed as the second bishop of Diocese of Pathanamthitta.
